Emerge Digital brought cause marketing into the digital age by pairing Acurian’s Click-It-Forward campaign with the massive social media networks of Facebook and MySpace. Social Networkers earn money for causes they’re closest to by “Clicking it Forward” to friends and family. The cool factor comes from watching your reach spread on Google Earth.

The campaign works not because it helps Acurian’s abilities to do the research necessary to cures diseases. Nor does it work because Click It Forward forms a positive emotional connection between the web community and Acurian. Click It Forward succeeds because it recognizes there is such a thing as a larger cause.
